The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are eyeing William Carvalho…
Chelsea have joined Everton in the race to sign £30m-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho as Antonio Conte continues to overhaul his new squad, according to the Mirror.
Conte has already splashed out on midfielder N’Golo Kante and striker Michy Batshuayi this summer but the Italian tactician is wanting to add another central midfielder to his squad as he looks to form a solid base in front of his defence this coming season.
Several high-profile names have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks but with Chelsea frustrated in their attempts to sign the likes of Radja Nainggolan and Joao Mario, it looks like Conte has added a new player to his list of targets.
The Mirror claim that Chelsea have now entered the race to sign highly-rated Portuguese international William Carvalho but they’ll face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Everton – who are desperately trying to use their newly-found wealth to revamp their squad this summer.
The newspaper suggests that the Toffees are already going head-to-head with Chelsea over the signing of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly but the two clubs could now battle-it-out over the signing of Carvalho, too.
The 24-year-old has just come off the back of another impressive campaign with Sporting Lisbon and he’d add real power and physicality to the Chelsea midfield if they do end up taking him to West London this summer.
Everton will no doubt do all they can to pip the Blues to his signature as new boss Ronald Koeman looks to spend owner Farhad Moshiri’s millions, but the lure of playing for a club like Chelsea could prove too tempting for Carvalho to resist.

However, both Chelsea and Everton will have to be prepared to dig deep if they want to sign the Portuguese international as the Mirror suggest it will take an offer of £30m to persuade Lisbon in to a sale.
