Chelsea Ready To Complete Deal After Tabling £38m Defender Bid
Chelsea are waiting for the green light to push ahead and complete a deal for Kalidou Koulibaly after submitting a £38m bid for the Napoli centre-back
The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Chelsea’s pursuit of Kalidou Koulibaly…
Chelsea are waiting for the green light to push ahead and complete a deal for Kalidou Koulibaly after submitting a £38m bid for the Napoli centre-back, according to the Express.
Antonio Conte has already been busy reshaping his squad with the signings of midfielder N’Golo Kante and striker Michy Batshuayi but the Italian tactician is also keen to bring in a new central defender to marshal his new-look team next season.
Koulibaly has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks and his agent, Bruno Satin, confirmed recently that the defender has decided to leave Napoli and claims that Chelsea are interested in taking him to west London.
Satin is quoted as saying by the Express:
“We’ve decided to leave for economic reasons… Chelsea still want him and there’s time to close a deal,”
It looked like these comments promoted Chelsea to make a fresh approach for Koulibaly as Sky Sports News reported last week that the Blues had tabled an improved £38m bid after seeing two previous offers rejected by Napoli.
The Express claim today that Chelsea are ready and waiting to wrap-up the big-money move for the Senegal international and they are just waiting to be given the green light from Napoli to push ahead with the deal.
Chelsea’s latest offer is understood to be much closer to Napoli’s asking price, however, it’s not clear whether the Italian giants are prepared to accept their reported £38m bid or hold out for more.
We’ll just have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but Koulibaly would be an excellent signing for Chelsea if they do end up managing to secure a deal as he’s become one of the best central defenders in Italy over the past couple of years.

The 6ft 6ins defender is powerful and quick on his feet, so he should have no problem adjusting to life in the Premier League and I think he could be the ideal long-term replacement for John Terry at Stamford Bridge.
