The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea join the chase for Jonas Hector…
Chelsea have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Jonas Hector this summer and have made an enquiry about a potential £20m deal for the FC Koln right-back, according to the Mirror.
Hector has developed in to one of the best full-backs in the Bundesliga since breaking in to the Koln first team back in 2013 having joined the club from SV Auersmacher and is also now established himself in Joachim Low’s Germany squad.
The 26-year-old featured at this summers European Championship finals in France and has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks with the Daily Mail claiming earlier this month that the Reds were showing a keen interest in signing Hector this summer.
Jurgen Klopp has been extremely busy in the transfer market reshaping his squad and fans have urged the German coach to bring in another left-back to compete with the often-criticised Alberto Moreno with Hector seemingly on his radar.
However, it looks like Liverpool could now face stiff competition if they do decide to make a formal move for the German star as the Mirror claim that Chelsea have now joined the chase for Hector’s signature.
Antonio Conte is in need of reinforcements at the back after letting Baba Rahman join Schalke on loan and as it stands, youngster Ola Aina or winger Kendey are the only back-up to Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back.
It appears the Italian tactician is now ready to strengthen his options as the newspaper says that Chelsea have now made an enquiry over a potential deal for £20m-rated Hector, despite the fact that he only signed a new deal last week.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Hector would be an excellent signing for either Chelsea or indeed Liverpool, and I think he’d be a very useful player if one of the Premier League giants were able to get a deal agreed for his signature this summer.
