The transfer window is now drawing to a close so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham are linked with Isco….
Tottenham are favourites ahead of Chelsea to secure a stunning deal for out-of-favour Real Madrid attacker Isco before the transfer window slams shut, according to the Mirror.
Isco joined Madrid from Malaga in 2013 with a reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in Spanish football but his time at the Bernabeu hasn’t gone as many had hoped.
After a solid first season, the 24-year-old has fallen out-of-favour with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez all ahead of him in Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order and Isco only completed the full ninety minutes in 8 of his 34 La Liga appearances last season.
The rise to prominence of highly-rated youngster Marco Asensio is only going to further limit Isco’s playing time and it’s led to speculation that the Spanish international could be on the move this summer in search of regular football.
The Mirror claim that Madrid have been planning to offload either Isco or James Rodriguez but president Florentino Perez has now blocked the sale of the Colombian meaning Isco is the man that has been made available for transfer during the closing stages of the window.
And he could be heading to the Premier League as the newspaper says that Spurs are plotting a sensational late move for the Spaniard while Chelsea are also understood to be monitoring his situation ahead of a potential late swoop.
Antonio Conte has made it clear he’s actively looking to add to his squad over the next few days and while defence is believed to be his priority, the Italian coach may be tempted to strengthen his attack now that a player of Isco’s quality is on the market.
However, the Mirror claim that Tottenham are currently the players most likely destination with the north Londoners planning to sign Isco on a season-long loan with a view to making the move permanent in 12 months time.
Mauricio Pochettino is expected to bring in another attacker with Nacer Chadli tipped to leave before the end of the month and Isco would be a superb addition for the White Hart Lane club if they could pull it off.

He’s a top class player who just hasn’t been given the chance to fulfill his obvious potential at the Bernabeu and I think he’d be a real hit if he’s given a more prominent role at a team like Tottenham.
