Transfer News: Tottenham Steal March On Chelsea After Making Offer For Attacker
Tottenham have stolen a march on Chelsea after making an offer for a talented Spanish attacker. Find out all the details on this potential move here.
Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in Isco after making an audacious attempt to sign the out-of-favour Real Madrid attacker on a season-long loan deal, according to the Mirror.
Isco was heralded as one of the most exciting young attackers in Spanish football when he joined Madrid from Malaga in 2013 but his time at the Bernabeu hasn’t gone according to plan.
The 24-year-old has fallen out-of-favour under Zinedine Zidane and after completing the full ninety minutes in just 8 of his 34 appearances last season, the attacker is yet to feature in either of Madrid’s opening games this campaign.
With highly-rated youngster Marco Asensio now also ahead of Isco in Zidane’s pecking order the Spanish international is going to see his first team chance further marginalised leading to speculation that he’ll be on the move before the window shuts.
The Mirror reported over the weekend that Madrid president Florentino Perez was willing to offload Isco with Tottenham understood to be in pole position ahead of Chelsea to land the talented attacking midfielder.
Antonio Conte has made no secret that he wants to further strengthen his squad over the coming hours and while defence is believed to be his priority, the Italian coach could be viewing Isco as a potential replacement for Brazilian winger Kenedy – who’s joined Watford on loan.
However, it appears Spurs have now stolen a march on their London rivals as the Mirror are reporting today that Tottenham have offered to take Isco on a season-long loan deal with the option to make the move permanent next summer.
The newspaper says that Madrid are proving difficult to deal with and are playing hardball as no doubt the La Liga giants would prefer to cash-in and sell the unwanted attacker on a permanent basis now.
Mauricio Pochettino is keen to further strengthen his squad before the window shuts ahead of their participation in the Champions League this season and is desperate to bring in another attacker after selling Nacer Chadli to West Brom.
The north Londoners have been linked with the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Wilfried Zaha in recent days but Isco would be a sensational coup if they could pull it off as I think he’s not been given the chance to fulfill his potential at Madrid and would flourish if given a more predominant role at a club like Tottenham.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming hours and there is still time for Chelsea to step-up their interest in Isco but I hope we see him come to England on deadline day as he’d be a great addition to the Premier League.
