Arsenal Team News: Wenger Confirms Fresh Injury Blow As Quartet Miss Ludogorets
Arsene Wenger has revealed a fresh injury blow ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Ludogorets with four key players now missing the Champions League tie.
Arsenal will be looking to take another huge step towards the knockout stages of the Champions League when we take on Ludogorets in Bulgaria tomorrow night.
Ahead of the game, Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this evening and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
Unfortunately the boss has revealed a fresh injury concern as Hector Bellerin has joined an ever-growing list of absentees after the right-back suffered an unspecified injury during a ‘little incident in training’.
Hopefully Bellerin’s injury isn’t anything serious as we have a huge game against Tottenham coming up on Sunday but Carl Jenkinson is set to deputise for the Spaniard at right-back on Tuesday night.
Santi Cazorla has also been left back in north London as he continues to nurse an achilles injury that’s already kept him out of the last three games but Aaron Ramsey is pushing for a recall to the starting eleven after making his comeback off the bench against Sunderland.
Theo Walcott is also missing against Ludogorets as he’s still feeling the effects of a hamstring injury that’s kept him out of the last two games so Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to continue on the right-wing.
Nacho Monreal is the final absentee as the defender has failed to recover from a muscle issue that caused him to miss the win’s over Reading and Sunderland so Kieran Gibbs will continue to fill-in at left-back.
The good news is that Wenger suggested some of the missing quartet are ‘close’ to returning to full fitness so fingers crossed we see at Bellerin, Walcott, Cazorla and Monreal back in contention for the visit of Spurs this weekend.
The only other piece of injury news is that Granit Xhaka returns to the squad after serving his three-match domestic ban but Danny Welbeck, Lucas Perez, Per Mertesacker and Chuba Akpom remain out with long-term injuries.
