Chelsea vs Tottenham Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Chelsea take on Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score for the game
Chelsea will look to tighten their grip at the top of the Premier League table when they take on Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
The Blues are on a superb run of form that’s seen them win each of their last six Premier League matches without conceding a single goal since Antonio Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation.
Last weekend’s 1-0 win at Middlesbrough saw Chelsea climb above Liverpool and Manchester City to the top of the table so the west Londoners will be hoping to cement their position with another win tomorrow.
They’ll face a solid Spurs side who remain the only unbeaten team left in the top flight having won 6 and drawn 6 of their 12 games so far to leave them sitting fifth in the table and just four points adrift of the leaders.
However, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will need to pick his players up after they crashed out of the Champions League group stages following Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat at Monaco.
Team news
Chelsea have been hit by a fresh injury blow with captain John Terry ruled out for up to three weeks with a buttock injury.
Kurt Zouma continued to build on his fitness with a run out for the under-23’s in midweek but he’s not yet ready for the first team so Conte will stick with his usual back three.
John Obi Mikel has also been ruled out of the game after suffering a muscle injury but Cesc Fabregas and Willian are pushing for recalls.
Tottenham have a selection headache to deal with at left-back as Danny Rose is suspended and Ben Davies has been ruled out with an ankle injury.
Kieran Trippier could switch across to left-back but I think we’ll see Jan Vertonghen move to the left with Kevin Wimmer starting alongside Eric Dier in the middle of defence.
Toby Alderweireld remains out with an on-going knee problem while Erik Lamela has also been ruled out with a hip injury.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham: Spurs are a solid unit who are capable of beating any side in the league on their day, however, the Blues are on a fantastic run and look formidable right now. Therefore, I think Chelsea will just edge this one to consign Tottenham to their first defeat of the season.
