Tottenham Team News: Poch Confirms Attacker Will Miss West Brom Clash
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that a key attacker will miss Tottenham’s Premier League clash with West Brom this weekend.
Tottenham will be looking to keep the pressure on the top two in the Premier League when they entertain West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.
Ahead of the game, boss Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s offered reporters a team news and injury update.
The Argentinean coach was pleased to confirm that Spurs didn’t suffer any fresh injury concerns following their FA Cup win over Aston Villa last weekend with the whole squad coming through the tie unscathed.
However, the north Londoners still have one long-term casualty on the sidelines as Pochettino also revealed that Erik Lamela will once again miss out when West Brom arrive at the Lane on Saturday.
Lamela has missed Tottenham’s last fifteen games in all competitions after struggling to overcome a hip injury which he suffered at the end of October in 2016.
The Argentinean international was allowed to fly back to Italy earlier this month to undergo parts of his rehabilitation with former club Roma and Pochettino says the 24-year-old is still another week away from finishing his recovery.
He told reporters:

It means Lamela will sit out the visit of the Baggies on Saturday lunchtime and will be in a race against time to be fit for the crucial trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City next weekend.
Even if he does return to full training late next week, realistically Lamela isn’t going to start against City so the best the attacker could hope for is a place on the bench against their title rivals on January 21st.
Tottenham head in to this weekend’s action sitting third in the table but can climb above Liverpool with a win over West Brom ahead of the Merseysiders trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.
