Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Thomas Lemar…
Arsenal are lining-up a move for Monaco’s £25m-rated attacker Thomas Lemar as boss Arsene Wenger eyes at least four new signings this summer, according to the Mirror.
Wenger’s future at Arsenal remains in doubt as his contract is due to expire next month and he’s yet to sign an extension but it appears he’s pressing ahead with his transfer plans.
With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez approaching the final 12 months of their contracts, we could be forced to cash-in on our star duo if they don’t sign new deals and that would mean having to strengthen our attacking options.
The Mirror claim Wenger is a huge fan of Lemar having tracked the player for several years and has now identified the Monaco winger as his top attacking midfield target.
The 21-year-old came through the Caen youth ranks before joining Monaco in 2015 and has been a key part of Leonardo Jardim’s impressive side that are on course to winning Ligue 1 having already reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Lemar has scored 14 goals and provided a further 13 assists in all competitions so far this campaign while he’s also earned his first caps with the senior France national team so you can certainly see why Wenger is showing a keen interest.
Monaco are going to do well to keep their squad together following a sensational season but the Mirror suggest they could cash-in on Lemar if £25m is put on the table this summer.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Arsenal will be willing to pay that sort of money for the young left winger but I think Lemar would be an excellent addition if we could manage to lure him to the Emirates.
And he may not be the only new arrival as the Mirror claim that Wenger is looking for at least three further signings as he looks to rebuild his squad to make us genuine title challengers next year.
According to the report, we’re confident of signing Bosnian left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke while Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette is understood to be our prime striker target.

A new centre-back is also on the agenda and the newspaper says Virgil van Dijk is a dream signing for Wenger but the Southampton captain could be heading to Chelsea.
It’s certainly going to be a fascinating summer in north London with plenty to sort out but before we can push ahead with any transfer plans, we need to resolve Wenger’s future.
