Tottenham Hotspur are looking to wrap-up an £8m deal to sign highly-rated Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth by the end of this week, according to the Mirror.
Mauricio Pochettino has been extremely quiet in the summer transfer market so far with the Spurs boss yet to add to a squad that finished second in the Premier League last season.
The Argentinean coach has an exciting young group of players at his disposal but Pochettino knows he needs to further strengthen if Spurs are to compete in the league and Champions League next year.
Foyth has emerged as a surprise target with the Evening Standard reporting earlier this month that Tottenham had scheduled to hold talks with Estudiantes about a possible deal to sign the young centre-back.
It seems those discussions have now taken place as the Mirror claim Estudiantes president Juan Sebastian Veron has held negotiations with the north Londoners and a deal is now in the pipeline.
The newspaper says Tottenham are hoping to complete an £8m move by the end of this week with the young defender set to become their first signing of the summer, subject to a work permit.
The 19-year-old has been with Estudiantes his entire career and he broke in to the first team set-up last season having progressed through the youth ranks.
Foyth is a ball-playing central defender who caught the eye of Tottenham scouts during the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year and he’s been likened to Spurs star Toby Alderweireld.
