Arsenal and Liverpool have asked Leicester City to be kept informed of any developments over the future of Riyad Mahrez as the duo consider moves for the £50m-rated attacker, according to the Daily Mail.
Mahrez is expected to leave the King Power stadium this summer after handing in a formal transfer request at the end of last season with the attacker revealing he wants to take the next step in his career.
The Algerian international has been strongly linked with a move to AS Roma in recent weeks and the Daily Mail claim the Serie A outfit contacted Leicester over the weekend to table a £30m plus add ons offer that fell short of the Foxes £50m asking price.
The newspaper says Roma sporting director Monchi will hold further negotiations with club chairman James Pallotta in Boston this week confident in the knowledge that Mahrez is keen to move to Italy.
However, Roma may yet face some stiff competition for the 26-year-old’s signature as the Daily Mail say Arsenal and Liverpool have both been in touch with Leicester and asked to be kept informed of any development’s regarding Mahrez’s future.
Arsene Wenger has made just two signings so far this summer but the Gunners boss has confirmed he’s in the market for further reinforcements as he looks to build a squad capable of competing for the title this season.
A new attacker could be on the agenda due to on-going doubts over the future of Alexis Sanchez and Arsenal may now renew their interest in Mahrez after missing out on his signature last summer.
Jurgen Klopp is also still hoping to add further signings to his Liverpool squad having already snapped-up striker Dominic Solanke, winger Mohamed Salah and defender Andrew Robertson.

Mahrez is a Premier League proven player who would be an excellent signing for the Merseysiders, or indeed Arsenal, but it remains to be seen whether either club will be prepared to meet Leicester’s valuation.
