Tottenham could be about to wrap-up their first signing of the summer as the Mirror are reporting that the north Londoners are set to beat Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Juan Foyth.
Mauricio Pochettino has been extremely quiet in the summer transfer market so far with the Spurs boss yet to make a single major addition to the the squad that finished second in the Premier League last season.
The Argentinean coach has a talented young group at his disposal but he knows further additions are needed if Tottenham are going to compete on all fronts this year, especially following the sale of Kyle Walker to Man City.
The north Londoners are determined not to join their rivals in paying inflated fees this summer and it looks like Pochettino is hoping to pick up a few buys from the bargain bucket.
Foyth emerged as a target earlier this month with the Mirror claiming Tottenham were hoping to wrap-up an £8m deal after holding talks with Estudiantes officials.
The proposed switch stalled after PSG entered the race for the 19-year-old’s signature but it appears the deal is now back on as the Mirror are citing a report from El Dia that claims Foyth has snubbed a move to Paris.
The Argentinean newspaper says the defender is concerned about a lack of first team opportunities at PSG and is more interested in working under compatriot Pochettino at White Hart Lane [or Wembley this season].
It’s suggested in the report that Tottenham are now favourites to complete a deal to sign Foyth this summer but the move isn’t imminent as they are still yet to agree a fee with Estudiantes.
Foyth has been with Estudiantes his entire career having joined the clubs youth ranks and has progressed through the system to become a first team regular.

The teenager caught the eye after playing for his country at the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year and it looks like Tottenham are now hoping to secure a deal to sign the ball-playing centre-back.
If they are successful, Foyth would become Tottenham’s first signing of the summer and his arrival could pave the way for Kevin Wimmer to leave the club in search of regular first team football.
