Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Spurs close-in on Davinson Sanchez…
Tottenham have agreed personal terms with Davinson Sanchez after sealing a deal with Ajax worth up to £35m for the highly-rated defender, according to The Sun.
Mauricio Pochettino is yet to strengthen his squad this summer but he’s made it clear new recruits will be arriving before the end of the month and it looks as though the Spurs boss is closing-in on his first signing.
A new defender is on Pochettino’s agenda and Sanchez emerged as a prime target late last week with widespread reports suggesting Tottenham were in talks for the Colombian international.
Negotiations appear to have reached a quick conclusion as The Sun claim Spurs have struck a deal with Ajax that will see the north Londoners pay up to £35m for the young centre-back after beating off stiff competition for his signature.
A deal now appears to be on the verge of completion as the newspaper says the defender has already agreed personal terms so the move should be wrapped-up swiftly as long as there are no late complications.
The 21-year-old began his career at Colombian side Atletico Nacional but has developed in to one of the most highly-rated defenders in Europe since joining Ajax last summer.
Sanchez was hugely impressive in his debut campaign in Holland last season as he made 43 appearances to help Ajax finish runners-up in the Eredivisie to title-winners Feyenoord.
Predominantly a central defender, Sanchez is also capable of playing at right-back so he could provide cover for Kieran Trippier following Kyle Walkers big-money move to Manchester City.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but if The Sun’s report is accurate then it looks as though Pochettino is set to complete his first signing and Sanchez should prove to be an excellent addition.
