22-Year-Old Set For Man Utd Comeback During League Cup Clash Against Burton
Luke Shaw looks set to make his long-awaited comeback for Manchester United during their Carabao Cup clash with Burton on Wednesday night
Luke Shaw looks set to make his long-awaited comeback for Manchester United during their Carabao Cup clash with Burton on Wednesday night, according to the Mirror.
Shaw hasn’t featured for the United first team since suffering ankle ligament damage against Swansea City in April which saw him miss the final weeks of last season.
The 22-year-old worked hard throughout the summer to regain full fitness and the full-back made a successful return to action by turning out for United’s under-23s this campaign.
Shaw has played in the last three games for the youth side and was once again expected to feature in their Premier League 2 clash with Chelsea on Monday night.
However, the former England international was left out of the squad by under-23 boss Ricky Sbragia and the Mirror claim Shaw is now set to feature for the first team against Burton on Wednesday.
United welcome the Championship side to Old Trafford in the third round of the League Cup tomorrow night so it represents the perfect opportunity for Jose Mourinho to hand Shaw his first taste of first team action this season.
Mourinho confirmed last week that Shaw was now considered fit and available for selection after recovering from his latest injury. The United boss is quoted by the Mirror as saying:
“Luke Shaw is not injured anymore so it is a question of form. It’s a question of option but he is not injured, he’s recovered from his injury.”
Shaw will be desperate to impress if he starts tomorrow night as he’s endured a frustrating time with injury since making a big-money move from Southampton three years ago.
