Arsenal v Norwich: Latest Team News | Wenger To Make 10 Changes | Prediction
Arsenal take on Norwich in the fourth round of the League Cup tonight. Here is a preview with the latest team news, line-ups and prediction
Arsenal will look to book their place in the next round of the League Cup when we take on Norwich City at the Emirates this evening.
We made hard work of beating Doncaster Rovers in the last round having only managed a 1-0 win but the ‘B team’ have played a few games together now in the cups and performances are improving.
The boss has played a similar side in the Europa League and they’ve secured three consecutive victories so far including a 1-0 win away to Red Star Belgrade last week so the boys should be looking forward to this one.
However, I’m not expecting an easy game as Norwich are sixth in the Championship table after beating Ipswich at the weekend and boss Daniel Farke knows his side have nothing to lose tonight.
Team news
Arsene Wenger is set to ring the changes once again for this Carabao Cup fourth round clash with our key first team regulars set to be given the night off.
Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac, Hector Bellarin, Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka, Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette are all expected to be rested following Sunday’s 5-2 win at Everton.
Shkodran Mustafi remains out with a hamstring injury while Calum Chambers has a hip problem so Mathieu Debuchy could be given another start at the back along with Rob Holding.
Mohamed Elneny played at centre-back against Belgrade last week so he could be given another run-out in the unfamiliar role tonight while youngsters Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles should occupy the wing-back positions.
Jack Wilshere is certain to start while Francis Coquelin, Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi are also pushing for recalls. Olivier Giroud should lead the line up front and will be in confident mood after winning the FIFA Puskas Award for best goal last night.
David Ospina is ruled out with a groin injury so Wenger has a tough decision to make over whether to risk Petr Cech or hand 23-year-old Matt Macey his debut in goal.
As for Norwich, Nelson Oliveira and Christoph Zimmermann face late fitness tests but Russell Martin could return to the squad.
Likely Line-Ups
Norwich XI: Gunn; Pinto, Klose, Zimmermann, Stiepermann; Trybull, Reed; Hoolahan, Maddison, Murphy; Jerome
Predicted Score
Arsenal 2-1 Norwich: We have an excellent record against Norwich having lost just two of our last 27 home games in all competitions against the Canaries. Arsenal have also won 26 of their last 29 League Cup home games against lower league opposition so we should be confident tonight. I don’t think Norwich will make it an easy game but back the boys to secure a 2-1 win.
