Man Utd Handed Triple Injury Boost + Ibrahimovic Latest
Man Utd have been handed a triple injury boost with Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo and Michael Carrick all stepping-up their comebacks by returning to training
Manchester United have been handed a triple injury boost with Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo and Michael Carrick all stepping-up their comebacks by returning to training this week, according to the Daily Mail.
Jose Mourinho has had to deal with a lengthy injury list for much of the season so far with a number of first team players spending time on the treatment table.
However, the injury woes appear to be easing as Marouane Fellaini returned to action with a substitute appearance against Chelsea last week and Mourinho expects Pogba, Rojo and Carrick to be available soon after the international break.
The Daily Mail claim the trio all stepped-up their comebacks after taking part in training sessions with the U23’s this week while the majority of the first team squad are away with their countries.
Pogba has been forced to miss United’s last 12 games in all competitions after suffering a hamstring tear during the Champions League win over Basel back in September.
The French international has been slowly working his way back to full fitness over the past two months but Pogba is now intensifying his work-load and should be in the squad to face Newcastle on November 18.
Rojo is yet to feature this season due to a knee ligament injury that he suffered way back in April of last season and the Argentinean international had been taking part in light training in recent weeks.
It seems the defender is now stepping-up his rehabilitation but after spending over six months on the sidelines, Rojo may need a little more time before he’ll be in contention so Mourinho may wait until later this month before calling on him.
Carrick has made just one appearance so far this season after being struck down by a mystery virus that has been difficult to shift but the midfielder could be set to make his return to action over the coming weeks.
There is also some encouraging news on Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the Daily Mail says the Swedish hitman has been increasing his workload as he looks to make his comeback from a knee ligament injury before the New Year.
The news will come as a huge boost to Mourinho as the United boss tries to close the gap on Manchester City after falling 8 points adrift of the league leaders following last weekend’s defeat at Chelsea.
