Arsenal & Tottenham Eyeing £20m Swoop For Out-Of-Favour Man Utd Star
Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs eyeing a potential swoop for £20m-rated Luke Shaw as the full-back looks set to leave Manchester United
The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, plenty of interest is being shown in Luke Shaw…
Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs eyeing a potential swoop for £20m-rated Manchester United defender Luke Shaw as the full-back looks set to leave Old Trafford, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Shaw emerged as one of the most exciting young defenders in British football after progressing through the Southampton youth ranks and earned a £28m move to United back in 2014.
However, the 22-year-old’s time at Old Trafford hasn’t gone according to plan as he’s struggled with a number of niggling injuries and has failed to hold down a regular place under Jose Mourinho.
Shaw has made just two first team appearances this campaign and the left-back has been hotly tipped to leave United either when the transfer window re-opens in January or at the end of the season.
United have already triggered a clause in the players contract to extend his deal until 2019 in order to protect his transfer value with the Telegraph claiming the Red Devils will cash-in if at least £20m is put on the table.
Understandably, there is no shortage of interest being shown in Shaw’s services with the newspaper suggesting that Arsenal and Tottenham are eyeing a move along with the likes of Chelsea, Everton and Manchester City.
Arsenal signed Sead Kolasinac last summer but with Nacho Monreal now deployed as a centre-back and Kieran Gibbs sold to West Brom, Arsene Wenger has limited experienced options on the left.
Tottenham could also be in the market for another left-back with Danny Rose strongly linked with a move to United and a potential swap deal involving Shaw has been mooted in the media.
I think Shaw would be an excellent signing for Arsenal or Spurs if they were able to get a deal agreed and could keep him fit but it sounds like they’ll face some stiff competition for his signature.

It also remains to be seen whether United would be prepared to sell to a domestic rival so it’s going to be interesting to see where Shaw ends up when he eventually leaves Old Trafford.
