Arsenal Trio Return To Training Ahead Of Cologne Trip But Attacker Still Out
Arsenal trio Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere were all involved in training today but Theo Walcott remains out through illness
Arsenal trio Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere were all involved in training today but Theo Walcott remains out through illness, according to the Metro.
Giroud was forced to miss the 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Saturday after sustaining a thigh injury while away with the France squad during the international break earlier this month.
However, the Frenchman appears to have made a swift recovery as Giroud was back on the training pitch today and could feature against Cologne tomorrow night.
Wilshere was an unused substitute against Spurs at the weekend and he was back on the pitches at London Colney this morning after missing yesterday’s training session.
Welbeck returned from a month out with a groin injury to be an unused sub against Tottenham and the attacker also returned to training today after not taking part on Tuesday.
All three players are pushing for starts against Cologne in our Europa League group stage clash tomorrow night with Arsene Wenger expected to once again rotate his squad heavily.
The likes of Per Mertesacker, Rob Holding, Francis Coquelin and Alex Iwobi are also in-line to feature along with youngsters like Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock.
However, it looks like Walcott will once again miss out as the attacker wasn’t able to train today as he continues to suffer from illness that kept him out of the Tottenham game at the weekend.
Arsenal head in to the Cologne game tomorrow night having secured progression to the knockout stages of the Europa League with a 0-0 draw against Red Star Belgrade earlier this month.
