We started the game brightly brightly and were well on top when we deservedly opened the scoring midway through the first half.
Palace keeper Julian Speroni could only palm an Alexandre Lacazette shot straight in the path of Shkodran Mustafi who slotted home from a tight angle with a lovely first-time finish.
We missed a number of excellent chances to put the game out of sight with Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin spurning the best opportunities.
And we were made to rue those missed chances as Palace grabbed an unlikely equaliser just after half-time as Andros Townsend fired home from a Wilfried Zaha cross following some poor Arsenal defending.
However, we rallied and restored our lead when Sanchez lashed home in the 63rd minute with a powerful effort after being teed-up by Lacazette.
Palace pulled one back in the 89th minute as James Tomkins got above Laurent Koscielny to head in to the bottom corner from a corner.
But Arsenal held on to secure a 3-2 win which sees us move level with Tottenham and to within just one point of fourth-placed Liverpool.
