Arsenal To Bid £27m For Argentinean Attacker As Wenger Eyes Replacement For Sanchez
Arsenal are set to meet Cristian Pavon’s £27m release clause as Arsene Wenger lines-up the Argentinean international as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez
The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Arsenal are linked with Cristian Pavon…
Arsenal are set to meet Cristian Pavon’s £27m release clause as Arsene Wenger lines-up the Argentinean international as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, according to a report in Football London.
Sanchez is out-of-contract at the end of the season and is being strongly tipped to join Manchester City this month after failing to push through a transfer on deadline day in the summer.
The Chilean international’s exit would leave a huge void needing to be filled in the squad and we’ve been linked with a number of players in recent months including the likes of Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez.
However, it looks like Wenger may have a surprise target in mind as recent reports have suggested the boss has lined-up Boca Juniors attacker Cristian Pavon as the man he wants to replace Sanchez.
It looks like we’re now ready to formalise our interest as Football London are citing a report from TyC Sports that claims Arsenal are set to meet his £27m release clause in the coming hours.
Wenger was initially prepared to wait until the summer to sign Pavon but the Argentinean outlet suggests that the boss is hoping to get the deal agreed now as he fears interest in the 21-year-old will sore if he impresses at the World Cup.
Pavon has been with Boca Juniors since joining the club in 2014 and has been impressing this season with 3 goals and 6 assists in his 12 appearances while he’s also broken in to the Argentinean national team squad.
The youngster is predominantly a right winger but is also capable of playing on the left and he sounds like he would certainly be an exciting player for the future.

We’ll have to wait and see if this story develops but I think it would be a huge risk for Wenger to replace a player of Sanchez’s class with a young up-and-comer from South America.
