Liverpool are confident of beating Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of Napoli’s £50m-rated midfielder Jorginho this summer
The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Jorginho’s future…
Liverpool are confident of beating Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of Napoli’s £50m-rated midfielder Jorginho this summer, according to the Mirror.
Jorginho is considered to be one of the best central midfielders in Serie A having starred for Napoli since joining the club from Verona in the summer of 2014.
The 26-year-old has been an integral part of Mauricio Sarri’s starting eleven this season as the Naples club battle it out with Juventus for the Serie A title.
The Brazilian-born star holds a dual passport but has pledged his allegiance to Italy and has three caps to his name so far – although he’ll be hoping to add to his tally during the upcoming friendlies with Argentina and England.
Jorginho’s impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd are all hoping to lure the midfielder to England this summer.
Arsene Wenger is in the market for another midfielder as Santi Cazorla’s career is in doubt due to injury while Jack Wilshere is yet to agree terms over a new deal so the Gunners have earmarked Jorginho as a possible new recruit.
Jose Mourinho is also set to sign at least one central midfielder this summer as Michael Carrick will retire in June while Marouane Fellaini is yet to agree terms over a new deal and United have also been tracking Jorginho.
However, the Mirror claim that Liverpool are confident they will win the race to sign the £50m-rated South American due to the recent success of Brazilian players such as Lucas, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp is set to buy a new midfielder to replace Emre Can as the German international has cast fresh doubt over his future after saying he wants to play for a ‘big’ club next season.
Can’s contract is due to expire in June and he’s failed to agree terms over an extension with Liverpool so it looks like he’ll be leaving this summer and Klopp wants Jorginho as his replacement.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Jorginho would be a superb signing for Liverpool, or indeed Arsenal or United, if any of the English clubs could get a deal agreed.
