Arsenal Target £53m Swoop For 6ft 4in Beast Who’d Be Perfect Koscielny Replacement
Arsenal are targetting a swoop for Napoli’s £53m-rated centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly as we look to tighten-up our leaky defence this summer
The summer transfer window is just around the corner and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Kalidou Koulibaly….
Arsenal are targetting a swoop for Napoli’s £53m-rated centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly as we look to tighten-up our leaky defence this summer, according to the Express.
The board have stepped up their search for a new manager after Arsene Wenger took charge of his final game on Sunday but the club are still pressing ahead with our summer transfer business.
Fixing our back-line is a priority as Arsenal conceded a whopping 51 goals in our 38 Premier League last season and we need to sign at least one new centre-back this summer.
Per Mertesacker has now retired while Laurent Koscielny turns 33 in September and may never return to his best form after being ruled out for at least six months following Achilles surgery.
Shkodran Mustafi has been a disappointing signing since arriving from Valencia while Rob Holding and Calum Chambers have failed to establish themselves so a new central defender is desperately needed.
And the Express claim Arsenal have identified Koulibaly as the man to tighten up our defence and we’re targetting a summer swoop for the 6ft 4in monster this summer.
However, we may have to break the bank if we want to sign Koulibaly as he’s under contract until 2021 and the report says Napoli have slapped a £53m price-tag on his head.
The Senegalese international has been one of the best centre-backs in Italian football since joining Napoli from Genk in 2014 so he’d be an excellent signing if Arsenal could pull it off.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress but Koulibaly’s future could depend on whether boss Maurizio Sarri remains at Napoli amid speculation linking him with Chelsea this summer.
