Arsenal Trying To Hijack Liverpool’s Move After Opening Talks To Sign £133m Star
Arsenal are hoping to hijack Liverpool’s attempts to sign Ousmane Dembele after opening talks with Barcelona over a deal for the £133m attacker
The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Ousmane Dembele….
Arsenal are hoping to hijack Liverpool’s attempts to sign Ousmane Dembele after opening talks with Barcelona over a deal for the £133m attacker, according to reports in Spain via Football London.
Dembele was considered one of the most exciting young players in world football during his time at Borussia Dortmund and earned a move to Barca last summer which could eventually cost £133.5m [Source: TeamTalk].
However, the 21-year-old’s time at the Nou Camp hasn’t gone according to plan as he missed a large part of last season with a hamstring injury and struggled to force his way back in to the starting eleven since returning to full fitness.
Dembele started just 12 La Liga games last campaign as Barca marched towards another league title and it’s led to speculation that the winger will leave this summer with a move to the Premier League touted in the media.
TeamTalk reported on Thursday that Liverpool are determined to sign Dembele and Jurgen Klopp is ready to contact the attacker to try and persuade him that his future lies at Anfield.
Klopp is in the market for another attacker after failing to replace Philippe Coutinho in January following his move to Barcelona and it seems he’s hoping Dembele will be the man to offer competition to the likes of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah next season.
However, it looks like Arsenal are now trying to hijack Liverpool’s attempts to sign Dembele as Football London are citing a report from SPORT that claims the Gunners have made contact with Barca to discuss landing the youngster.
The Spanish publication says Arsenal’s head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, has spoken with the Catalans about signing Dembele and new boss Unai Emery is believed to be keen on working with the attacker.
Mislintat knows the player well from his time at Dortmund and the report goes on to say that Dembele and his representatives have been made aware of the north Londoners interest.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Dembele would be a superb signing if Arsenal or Liverpool could get a deal agreed for his signature this summer.
