Transfers: Update On Man Utd’s Swoop For £55m Star + Mourinho Could Sign Italian Ace
Transfer gossip: Today, an update on Manchester United’s move for Danny Rose and Marco Verratti has been offered to Jose Mourinho…
The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, an update on Manchester United’s move for Danny Rose and Marco Verratti has been offered to Jose Mourinho…
First up and the Telegraph claim United have gone cold on the idea of signing Tottenham’s Danny Rose with Jose Mourinho now shelving plans to buy another left-back this summer. United were widely expected to sign another left-sided defender as Ashley Young is 33 while Luke Shaw has been tipped to leave Old Trafford after failing to establish himself under Mourinho.
Rose was touted as a prime target with the Telegraph claiming that United have been eyeing a swoop for the £55m-rated England international – who’s expected to leave White Hart Lane after falling out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino last season with Ben Davies Tottenham’s first choice left-back.
Rose admitted last summer that he’d like to move back up north to be nearer his family so a move to United would have appealed. However, the newspaper report says Mourinho has told Ed Woodward to shelve any move for Rose and concentrate on buying a top class centre-back instead.
United recently signed Diogo Dalot from Porto and the versatile defender can play either right-back or left-back so Mourinho feels he has adequate cover and wants to spend his transfer kitty elsewhere.

A move for Rose could still be resurrected later in the summer if United fail to find a central defender but for now the 27-year-old is going to have to find another club if he wants to leave Tottenham this summer.
Verratti to United?
Next and the Mirror are reporting that United have been offered the chance to sign Marco Verratti as his agent, Mino Raiola, looks to find the midfielder a way out of Paris Saint-Germain.
Verratti has been a vital part of the PSG side in recent years and has developed in to one of the best midfielders in Europe since moving to Paris from Pescara in 2012 having helped them win a whole host of trophies.
However, the Mirror are citing a report from Calcio Mercato that claims the Italian international wants to leave the Ligue 1 champions after being told to lose weight by new boss Thomas Tuchel.
The report says Verratti’s agent has already made contact with United chiefs to offer them the chance to sign the 25-year-old and Mourinho could now jump at the chance of signing one of his long-term targets – although no doubt any deal wouldn’t be cheap.

Verratti has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and Mourinho is in the market for another midfielder, despite agreeing a deal to sign Fred, as Michael Carrick has retired and Marouane Fellaini is set to leave on a free transfer after failing to sign a new deal.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Verratti would be a superb addition to the United squad if they could agree a deal with PSG for his signature this summer.
