Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey would favour a move to Liverpool if he decides to remain in England when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to the BBC.

Ramsey has become an Arsenal legend since joining the club from Cardiff City over ten years ago with the midfielder providing 62 goals and 64 assists in 356 appearances to help the north Londoners win 3 FA Cups.

However, Ramsey is set to end his long association with the Gunners as he has just 5 months left to run on his current contract and talks over an extension collapsed earlier in the season, despite the player being keen to commit himself to the Emirates.

Unai Emery doesn’t see Ramsey as an integral part of his line-up as he doesn’t use a traditional number 8 – Ramsey’s best position – so Arsenal took the decision to end contract talks and lose the midfielder for nothing in June rather than meet his hefty wage demands.

The Welsh international is not short of offers as the BBC claim he has been approached by a number of Premier League clubs – including Liverpool – as well as European giants such as Juventus, PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

The report says Ramsey’s current preference is to go abroad with Juventus leading the chase for his signature but if the 28-year-old decides to remain in the Premier League then his preference would be to join Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has a wealth of midfield talent available at present but with James Milner coming towards the end of his career, and Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana both struggling with niggling injuries, Liverpool are seemingly eyeing Ramsey as a summer recruit.

Obviously it would be a major coup if the Merseysiders were able to lure Ramsey to Anfield and he’d be a superb free transfer signing for Liverpool as he’s proven in England and one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Europe.

However, as it stands the Arsenal star is leaning towards going abroad and the BBC claims Ramsey is ready to undergo a medical and sign a pre-contract as soon as he makes a final decision over his new club.

The situation could still change and Ramsey may decide to remain in England but it looks increasingly likely he’ll be heading for a new adventure in Europe with Juventus the most likely destination.
