The January transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Tottenham are linked with Adrien Rabiot…

Mauricio Pochettino is due to hold transfer talks with Adrien Rabiot as Tottenham prepare to make an offer to the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, according to reports in France via the Daily Star.

Rabiot has been with PSG since joining the clubs youth system in 2012 and he’s made 227 appearances for the first team over the past six years, however, his long-term future lies away from the Parc des Princes.

The 23-year-old has less than six months left on his current contract and has made it clear to the Ligue 1 champions he won’t be signing an extension as he wants to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

Barcelona were the early front-runners to secure a deal for the French international but they snapped-up Frenkie De Jong in a big-money move from Ajax yesterday so they appear well stocked in midfield.

That could be good news for Tottenham as the Daily Star are citing a report from France Football that claims Pochettino is set to hold transfer talks with Rabiot after making the midfielder a top transfer priority.

The French outlet says Tottenham are now ready to present a formal offer to Rabiot’s representatives but they could face further competition from Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga giants are keen to take the midfielder to Germany.

Tottenham recently sold Mousa Dembele to Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F so they need to find a replacement and Rabiot would be an excellent long-term solution if they could lure him to north London on a free transfer.

The Frenchman is a specialist central midfielder who has bags of top level experience already and he has the potential to develop further under Pochettino if Spurs are able to win the race for his signature.
