Fergie quitting? “Rubbish”
By Ross Mackiewicz.
It has been a question that been asked every year despite Manchester United’s continuous success, when will the great Sir Alex Ferguson call time on his Manchester United dynasty? The fiery Scot has cemented his place among the greatest managers of all time, not only in Britain but throughout the world of football.
He was due to retire in the summer of 2002, but his burning desire to see the Red Devils crowned European champions once again, as well as equalling Liverpool’s domestic record of 18 league titles which he has since achieved, it has been asked how much further and farther he will take the Manchester club due to his age. However the 68 year old put the record straight as he has no desire to quit just yet.
“It is rubbish, I have no intention of retiring and if I did the people I would tell are [chief executive] David Gill and the Glazer family.”
However Sir Alex admitted that it may be his health and welfare that dictates whether or not he continues the job he so dearly loves.
“There is pressure in life. I can deal with it. The only thing that determines whether I stay here is my health. And I am in rude health.”
Many successors have been touted for the Old Trafford hot seat including Inter boss Jose Mourinho and David Moyes of Everton, but as long as the Ferguson’s passion and desire continues to glow red, it is impossible to see him leaving his United hot seat any time soon.
