Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Confirms He Wants To Sign Three Players
Arsenal manager has promised supporters he will do everything he can to strengthen the squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
The Gunners have lost several first team players this summer, and it doesn’t look like stopping as Wenger confirmed Bendtner would also be on his way soon. Therefore the Arsenal boss knows he needs to add some serious quality to his squad if they are going to compete this season and he has every intential on doing so.
However the Frenchman also admitted much of the situation depends on the selling club being willing to sell, something that is out of his hands, and there is a possibility they could miss out on their targets. Speaking to Arsenal.com, Wenger said:
“I will try to strengthen the squad in depth because at the moment we are a bit short number-wise but if we get two or three players in we have the quality to challenge,” said Wenger.
“I am anxious yes because I want to do it and I try everything to do it. But I am confident as well because we have some good young players who can make a big step very quickly.”
“There is a chance [we could make no signings] because again we are dependent on the desire of the people who have the players to sell the players,” he said.
Wenger went on to say he is looking to add right through the spine of his team with a defender, midfielder and striker all required and the Africa Cup of Nations is forcing his hand:
“It is important [to strengthen] because we will lose players in January with players going to the African Nations Cup,” said Wenger.
“We lose Gervinho and Chamakh together so, first of all, it is important to strengthen up front. It is important that we find one midfielder and one defender as well. So we are still short of three bodies.
