Chelsea: Latest TRANSFER News
By Football Talk.
As Chelsea prepare for the FA Cup Final this weekend, newspapers and media outlets continue to link players with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer. Here are some of the latest transfer rumours involving Chelsea doing the rounds today.
Fernando Torres
Chelsea player of the year Didier Drogba has said he would welcome Liverpool striker Fernando Torres to Stamford Bridge with open arms if the Spaniard make the move this summer. Speculation has bee rife that Torres would leave Anfield after Liverpool failed to secure champions league football next season, as well as doubts over manager Rafa Benitez’s future believed to have unsettled the striker.
Chelsea have been linked with a big-money move and Drogba has made it clear Torres would be welcomed at the Bridge.
‘Of course I would welcome Torres, every time a new player comes here, it makes the club bigger and gives us a lot of strength.
‘If there is a chance for him to come here, he will be welcome, because any help is welcome!’
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The Daily Mail is reporting that Barcelona are looking to offload striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer and have offered him to both Chelsea and Manchester City. Despite scoring 20 goals in 41 games this year, the Swedish hit-man has been criticised as being a flop since him big-money move from Inter Milan last summer.
Reports in Italy have suggested Juventus were interested and weighting up a £35m offer, but Barcelona President Laporta is believed to want at least £40m so has identified Chelsea as a possible buyer. Ibrahimovic is the latest striker to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with Carlo Ancelotti being linked with moves for Torres, Aguero and Pato in recent weeks.
Ashley Cole
Chelsea will not be selling Ashley Cole for any price following interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid. Reports in recent weeks have suggested Cole may be tempted to move to Spain after enduring a turbulent year with intense scrutiny into his private life following his break up with Cheryl Cole.
However, Cole still had one of his best ever seasons, helping Chelsea to their first league title in four years. Ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourihno is widely expected to leave Inter for Real Madrid this summer and was hoping to temp Cole to join him, but is now seems Chelsea will reject any interest in the England left-back.
