TRANSFER TALK: Chelsea’s £17m Barca bid and eye French attacker
By Football Talk.
Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of players in recent weeks and here are another two transfer rumours to get your teeth into today. The most exciting rumour for Chelsea fans is the news of interest in Barcelona’s Yaya Toure, while the Blues are also said to be close to agreeing a deal for exciting French midfielder Sylvain Marveaux.
Yaya Toure
Chelsea have made a move for Arsenal and Manchester City target Yaya Toure after tabling a £17m bid, according to Catalan Television. Toure fell out with Barca coach Pep Guardiola and struggled to hold down a first team spot last season. Despite the unrest, Barca are not willing to let the Ivorian defensive midfielder leave on the cheap, and rejected Chelsea’s bid and will not sell for less than £20m.
Toure has been linked with a move to Arsenal as part of a deal to take Cesc Fabregas back to the Nou Camp, but his agent has denied that Toure was heading to North London as ‘bigger clubs’ were interested in his client. Perhaps the new Premier League champions were who he was referring to?
Sylvain Marveaux
Quest France have reported that Chelsea have made a move for exciting French star Sylvain Marveaux. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder was a stand-out performer for Rennes last season contributing 10 goals and 7 assists. This impressive form has resulted in glowing references from French-based scout Guy Hillon, who has now recommended the player to Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Apparently Marveaux is set to travel to London some time next week to meet with club officials and discuss personal terms.
