Chelsea and Manchester City are ready to battle it out for the signing of highly-rated Ukrainian goalkeeper Igor Berezovsky, according to the Mirror.

The 22-year-old stopper has burst on to the scene after a string of impressive displays for club side Obolon Kiev and he’s now on the verge of breaking into the Ukrainian national team set up.

Berezovsky is currently No.1 for the Ukraine Under-21’s but is expected to step up to the senior squad for the current World Cup qualifying campaign and has been tipped to make his debut against Poland in March.

Chelsea are eyeing the 6ft 4in keeper as the man to push Petr Cech for the first team jersey at Stamford Bridge, while Roberto Mancini is also keen on Berezovsky moving to the Etihad as cover for Joe Hart.

However, the Premier League duo could face competition from Bayern Munich, with the Mirror claiming German giants are also keeping tabs on the gifted young goalkeeper.
