Tottenham vs Fulham Preview, Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Tottenham welcome London rivals Fulham to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-up and predicted score for the game.
Tottenham welcome London rivals Fulham to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon looking to cement their place in the top three.
Spurs head into the game holding a two-point lead over fourth-placed Chelsea but both Arsenal and Everton are now breathing down their necks after wins on Saturday so Andre Villas-Boas will know three points is vital to keep them in pole position for a top-four place.
The north Londoners get back to domestic action after Thursday nights thrilling Europa League clash with Inter Milan at the San Siro that saw Spurs edge into the quarter finals on away goals after the tie ended 4-4 on aggregate following a 4-1 second leg loss.
That defeat followed last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield so AVB will be keen to get his side back to winning ways on home soil this weekend.
Fulham arrive at the Lane sitting in mid-table and in little danger of being dragged into the relegation dog-fight with Martin Jol’s men currently nine-points clear of 18th placed Reading.
The Cottagers drew 2-2 with Sunderland last time out and are on a three-match unbeaten run so will hope to extend their form with a positive result this weekend.
Team News
Tottenham will be able to welcome back Gareth Bale to the starting eleven after the winger was suspended for the trip to Italy. Aaron Lennon is also expected to start after coming on as a substitute in midweek after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Clint Dempsey is likely to be available to face his former side but may have to make do with a place on the bench, but Sandro and Younes Kaboul both remain out.
The visitors have no new injruy worries to contend with. Mahamadou Diarra is their only absentee with the midfielder out with a long-term knee injury. Philippe Senderos was culpable for both goals against Sunderland so may see his place come under threat from Aaron Hughes.
Hugo Rodallega and Urby Emanuelson are also pushing for starting spots after impressing off the bench against the Black Cats.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham have an excellent recent record against Fulham, winning their last six Premier League games, and the north Londoners were in superb form before the defeats to Liverpool and Inter. Those losses may have dented their confidence but I can see AVB’s men getting back on track on Sunday. Tottenham 2-0 Fulham
