Arsenal & Man Utd Emerge As Favourites To Sign £15m-Rated Bosnian
Stoke are set to demand £15m for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic with Arsenal and Manchester United emerging as front-runners for his signature, according to reports.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on the future of Asmir Begovic.
Stoke City are set to demand £15m for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic with Arsenal and Manchester United emerging as front-runners for his signature, according to the Telegraph.
The Bosnian international has become one of the most consistent keepers in the Britain since his move to Stoke from Portsmouth in 2010 and it seems his impressive form has attracted interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League.
The Telegraph claim Stoke are aware that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in luring the 25-year-old away from the Britannia Stadium this summer and they have now set the asking price at £15m with the hope it could go even higher if a bidding war ensues.
The report suggests that while United boss Sir Alex Ferguson remains a huge admirer of current No.1 David De Gea, he acknowledges this Spaniard’s flaws and is looking to bring in some experienced competition this summer with Begovic being seriously considered.
Likewise, it’s understood that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in a new first choice stopper at the end of the season after the Frenchman has reportedly lost faith in young Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny and the Gunners supremo is believed to be keeping tabs on Begovic.
The Telegraph claim that Chelsea remain interested after seeing a £4m bid rejected 18 months ago but would regard Begovic as back up to Petr Cech, and with the player believed to want guaranteed first team football, Arsenal and Manchester United are now considered as the more likely options.

Stoke already have a ready-made back-up in place after signing Jack Butland from Birmingham in January so a move for Begovic this summer is likely, but it seems the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United will have to pay top-dollar if they want to land the highly-talented stopper.
