Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has dismissed reports linking him with a shock move to Arsenal claiming he ‘can’t even imagine’ playing for their London rivals., according to Sky Sports News.
Reports in Tuesday’s Daily Mail had suggested that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was looking to bring in a new first choice goalkeeper to replace Wojciech Szczesny this summer and was lining up an audacious move for current Blues No.1 Cech, who could come under pressure from impressive youngster Thibault Courtois next season.
However, the 30-year-old has rubbished the rumours insisting he has no intention of joining Chelsea’s rivals and doesn’t think the speculation is even worth talking about:
“It is an interesting piece of news but it is such speculation that I think it’s not even necessary to comment on it,”
“I know of nothing, nobody has contacted me and, to be honest, I can’t even imagine it.
“I don’t even normally notice such rumours. But when it does get to me, I naturally look at it to know what to say about it later.
“There are players who do read newspapers. Some players read match reports to know what was written about them and where.
“I don’t do this, I don’t read newspapers because of such things. I don’t take rumours like this seriously.” Cech is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

A move for Cech to Arsenal was always highly unlikely and it’s no surprise he’s moved quickly to laugh off the rumours. Arsenal may need a new goalkeeper this summer but Arsene Wenger must look at more realistic options than the Czech international, who’s been a main-stay in the Blues goal for almost nine years since moving to Stamford Bridge from Rennes in 2004.
