Kouyate Keen On Arsenal Move
Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate has revealed this will be on the move this summer and claims he would love to join Arsenal, according to Sky Sports News.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Cheikhou Kouyate wants to move to Arsenal.
Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate claims he will be on the move this summer and has revealed he would love to join Arsenal, according to Sky Sports News.
The 23-year-old has spent almost five years with Anderlecht since joining from Brussels in 2008 and after a slow start to his career at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, he’s now a first team regular and is closing in on 100 appearances for the Belgian outfit.
It seems his form has caught the eye of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger with Sky Sports claiming the Gunners are long-term admirers of Kouyate’s and have previously made enquiries for his services but a move has failed to materialise so far.
The player himself has now opened the door to a potential switch to the Emirates after revealing this will be his last season with Anderlecht and admitted he’d be keen on a move to Arsenal, but insists he’ll give his all for his current employers until the end of the season. He told Sky Sports:
“I like Arsenal because they play good football. There have been enquiries before, but nothing happened.
“I do not want to say where I am going, but this will be my last season with Anderlecht.
“Until I leave, I will continue to give 100 per cent.”
Kouyate is a versatile defensive minded player who predominantly plays at centre-back but can also play in defensive midfield so he would provide us with plenty of options if he was to make the move to north London. However, it appears we may have competition for his signature with Sky Sports suggesting Borussia Dortmund, Zenit St Petersburg and Anzhi Makhachkala are also interested in the Senegal international.
