Tottenham Leading The Chase To Land Barca Starlet
Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are leading the chase to sign Barcelona starlet Gerard Deulofeu on loan this summer, with the forward keen on coming to England.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Spurs lead the chase for Barca starlet Deulofeu.
Tottenham and Everton are leading the chase to sign Barcelona starlet Gerard Deulofeu on loan this summer, according to the Mirror.
The highly-rated forward has seen his first team opportunities limited at the Nou Camp and has fallen further down the pecking order following the arrival of Brazilian sensation Neymar. He only made 4 appearances in all competitions last season, although he did manage to score 18 goals for Barca’s B team, and the teenager is expected to go out on loan next year to gain some valuable first team experience.
The Mirror claim the 19-year-old wants to come to the Premier League this summer with Tottenham and Everton believed to be the front runners to secure a season-long loan deal.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is understood to be keen on adding to his attacking options ahead of next season after narrowly missing out on a top-four finish to rivals Arsenal, and the report claims he made personal checks on Deulofeu last year and is now willing to offer him some game-time at White Hart Lane.
However, Spurs will face stiff competition from Everton with the youngster said to be a huge fan of Toffees boss Roberto Martinez and he’s mindful that he’ll get a significant amount of first team action at Goodison Park.
The newspaper suggests the forwards agent has been in the UK this week finalising the move of another client and Barca youngster – Marc Muniesa – who joined Stoke City earlier this week, so it’s possible the agent took some time out to hold talks over Deulofeu’s future as well.
