Tottenham Hotspur get the group stages of their Europa League campaign under way tonight as they welcome Tromso to White Hart Lane.
Spurs have been drawn in Group K along with the Norwegian outfit, Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala and Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol, and boss Andre Villas-Boas will be keen to get off to a positive start tonight.
The north Londoners reached the quarter final stages of the competition last season before being knocked out by FC Basel, so will be hoping to do better this time around with the Premier League side one of the early favourites to lift the cup.
AVB’s men have started the season well, winning three of their four games in the league so far with a 1-0 defeat away at rivals Arsenal the only blip on their results sheet.
Team News
Spurs are expected to make some changes for the game as AVB tries to juggle a packed fixture list. Brad Friedel is likely to start ahead of No.1 Hugo Lloris while the likes of Younes Kaboul, Kyle Naughton and Ezekiel Fryers are all pushing for starts in defence.
Winger Aaron Lennon continues to miss out with a foot injury and he’s joined on the sidelines by Nacer Chadli who is suffering from a hip strain.
With Etienne Capoue ruled out with a knee injury midfielder Sandro is also expected to be given a start as he continues to work his way back to full fitness following a serious knee injury.
Forward Erik Lamela could be handed his first start since joining from AS Roma in the summer while Jermaine Defoe will spearhead the side in place of Spanish striker Roberto Soldado.
Likely Line-Up
Key Man
Gylfi Sigurdsson: The Icelandic midfielder was in fine form on Saturday scoring both goals during a 2-0 win over Norwich and with Christian Eriksen likely to be rested, Sigurdsson could be the creative hub of the team tonight.
Predicted Score
Tottenham 2-0 Tromso: Spurs will have far too much for the Norwegians to handle despite the weakened team.
