Chelsea’s Interest In German Starlet Confirmed By Director
Schalke chief Horst Heldt has confirmed that Chelsea have shown an interest in signing highly-rated midfielder Max Meyer but no official offer has been made
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with Max Meyer.
Schalke chief Horst Heldt has confirmed that Chelsea have shown an interest in signing highly-rated midfielder Max Meyer but no official offer has been put forward, according to the Daily Star.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising young talents in Germany after breaking into the first team set-up at Schalke last season, and has scored three goals so far this campaign in the Bundesliga.
It seems his talent hasn’t gone unnoticed at Stamford Bridge with Schalke sporting director Heldt revealing that Chelsea are interested in signing the youngster but are yet to table any formal offer.
“There is no official offer from Chelsea,”
“But I have heard of the interest.” Heldt is quoted as saying by the Star.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been able to watch Meyer close up already this season after the midfielder featured against the Blues in their recent Champions League clashes.
However, it appears that despite interest from west London, the player is content to remain in his homeland and is hoping to agree a new contract with Schalke soon.
“I am happy that I am so popular. But I feel very comfortable here,”
“I hope that an agreement is achieved. I think it will happen this year.” Meyer is quoted as saying by the Star
It seems Mourinho is lining-up his January targets with Chelsea also being linked with a big-money move for striker Radamel Falcao today, but it seems he may have some work to do if he wants to try and lure Meyer to the Premier League any time soon.
