Spanish Striker Responds To Speculation Linking Him With Move To North London
A highly rated Spanish striker has dismissed speculation linking him with a January loan move to north London duo Arsenal or Tottenham. See who the player is.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Alvaro Morata plays down talk of a move away from Real Madrid.
Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has dismissed speculation linking him with a January loan move to Arsenal or Tottenham.
Morata is highly-rated in Spain but is struggling to force his way into Carlo Ancelotti’s first team plans this season, leading to rumours he could be heading to the Premier League when the transfer window opens next month.
Sky Sports News claim that both Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in luring the 21-year-old to north London with reports in Monday’s press suggesting that the Gunners may have even reaching an agreement with Madrid and the player over a temporary switch to the Emirates.
However, Morata has now responded to the speculation by insisting he is only focussed on being successful at Madrid and praised boss Carlo Ancelotti for supporting him. When quizzed about supposed interest from Arsenal and Spurs, Morata said;
“I only think about succeeding at Real Madrid,”
“Every day I work hard to earn myself a place in the team, but I know that I have had the support of [coach Carlo] Ancelotti since the first day that he came here.
“To Jose Mourinho I owe a great deal for promoting me up to the first team and I will always have a special feeling towards him. He is an incredible coach.” Morata is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
Despite the reports suggesting Madrid may be open to letting Morata leave on a short-term basis, Sky Sports state that senior officials at the Spanish giants have insisted the club are not interested in loaning the young striker out in January and the player is only interested in following in the footsteps of his idol Raul.
Morata continued:
“Raul [Gonzalez] has always been a hero to me. He is considered to be the best player in the history of Real Madrid and Spanish football.
“Cristiano [Ronaldo] is also a great player, out of this world, the complete player, the best. [Karim] Benzema is impressive also and I can learn a lot from him.
“Also, [Gareth] Bale is now showing what he can do and is one of the best players in the world and he was a great signing.”
Arsenal are being tipped to bring in another striker next month with boss Arsene Wenger heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud up front, while Spurs could also be in the market for striking reinforcements with the club currently struggling for goals this season.
However, it appears the north London duo will have to look elsewhere with Morata seemingly off the market.
