Arsenal Could Finally Land Benzema As Madrid Line-Up £45m Suarez Bid
Real Madrid are lining-up a £45m bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this January which could see Karim Benzema make a switch to long-term admirers Arsenal.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Real Madrid are linked with Luis Suarez while Karim Benzema could be heading to Arsenal.
Real Madrid are lining-up a £45m bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this January which could see Karim Benzema make a switch to long-term admirers Arsenal, according to the Express.
Suarez has been in sensational form this season and hit the headlines with a remarkable four-goal performance against Norwich in midweek, which took his tally to 13 goals in just 10 games so far this campaign.
It seems his display’s haven’t gone un-noticed in Madrid with the Express citing reports coming out of Spain that suggest Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign Suarez to form a devastating forward-line with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, and will test Liverpool’s resolve with an opening £45m offer when the transfer window re-opens next month.
The newspaper states that Madrid will cash-in on Karim Benzema in order to raise the funds they need with Arsenal understood to be heading the queue of likely destinations for the 25-year-old.
The Frenchman was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer and boss Arsene Wenger has retained his interest as he looks to bring in another striker next month to boost the Gunners title push, but any potential move is wholly dependent on Real landing Suarez.
The claims of Madrid bidding for the controversial striker come despite the Uruguayan recently declaring he’s happy at Anfield while Brendan Rodgers has also insisted the player is going nowhere, so it seems the Spaniard’s are going to face an uphill task in luring him to the Bernabeu in January.
Liverpool have started the season well – currently sitting in fourth place – and are under no pressure to sell. Even if they did decide to cash-in, it would surely take a bid of a lot more than £45m to persuade them and there is virtually no chance they would do it mid-season.
Madrid may simply be testing the water in January ahead of a full-on assault for Suarez in the summer, but whether a deal could be done then may depend on if Liverpool manage to qualify for the Champions League next season or not.
However, the speculation is only going to intensify the closer we get to January but my best guess is that Suarez will still be a Liverpool player come February 1st which means Arsenal will also have to wait if they want to get their hands on Benzema.
