Mourinho Ready To Move For Italian Defender But Arsenal & Man Utd Also Keen
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is hoping to beat off competition from Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham to land Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia
With the January transfer window just around the corner, managers will be working hard to identify potential new signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, several Premier League clubs are linked with Andrea Ranocchia.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is hoping to beat off competition from Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham to land Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia, according to the Express.
After a strong start to the season, Ranocchia has fallen out-of-favour under boss Walter Mazzarri at the San Siro in recent weeks and it seems the Serie A giants are ready to cash-in on the Italian international when the transfer window re-opens in January.
It appears the 25-year-old won’t be short of offers here in England with the Express suggesting that Chelsea, Arsenal, United and Spurs are all monitoring the players situation, but Blues boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be the man who holds the most serious interest and is ready to raid his former side this winter.
The newspaper claims that Mourinho is willing to sell David Luiz next month and while Barcelona remain interested in luring the Brazilian to the Nou Camp, it’s suggested that Mourinho may try and tempt Inter with a player swap deal involving Luiz and Ranocchia.
It would certainly be a contentious decision to sell Luiz – who has become a real fan-favourite at Stamford Bridge – but it’s clear that the former Benfica ace has failed to convince Mourinho this season and he could now be used as a make-weight in a deal to bring Ranocchia to west London.
Both central defenders are desperate to secure regular first team football ahead of the World Cup so it could turn out to be a win-win situation for all parties, but don’t discount the likes of Arsenal or United entering the bidding if Inter do decide to sell the 6ft 5″ centre-back next month.
