Tottenham are on the south coast to take on Southampton at St Mary’s looking to close in on the top four.

Spurs head into the game sitting eighth in the Premier League standings but a win would see them move up to sixth and just three points off fourth-placed Chelsea.

Stand-in boss Tim Sherwood has stuck with a 4-4-2 formation with Emmanuel Adebayor up front alongside Roberto Soldado. Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Gylfi Sigurdsson all start in midfield while Danny Rose starts at left-back.

Here are the confirmed line-ups:

Gazzaniga, Chambers, Lovren, Hooiveld, Fox, Cork, Schneiderlin, S. Davis, Lallana, Rodriguez, Lambert.

Subs: Cropper, Yoshida, Fonte, Ramírez, Ward-Prowse, Reed, Gallagher

Lloris, Walker, Chiriches, Dawson, Rose, Lamela, Eriksen, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Adebayor, Soldado

Subs: Friedel, Capoue, Fredericks, Bentaleb, Holtby, Chadli, Defoe.

Is Lennon injured? I like the formation but would prefer a holding midfielder like Capoue partnering Dembele or Eriksen in the middle. Lamela is a lame duck from what I’ve seen of him so far. Massive gamble starting him ‘cos we’ll be playing with 10 men. Hope I’m wrong.

I agree with hiano. First of all I would be playing with one defensive midfielder Southampton aren’t mugs, and Siggy would be nowhere near the starting 11 with his two touches per game.

Capoue will almost certainly play a part in this game. I suspect Sherwood will be keeping close tabs on the midfield, if we get overrun, expect Capoue on for eriksen. I imagine Lennon is injured as I don’t think Sigs would have got ahead of him in the starting 11. Im going with a 2-2 draw.
