Arsenal + Chelsea Handed Boost In Pursuit Of £60m-Rated Midfielder
Arsenal and Chelsea have been boosted in their pursuit of Paul Pogba with Juventus are ready to sell the midfielder for £60m then buy Robin van Persie and Nani.
As we approach the business end of the season clubs are starting to make plans for the summer transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Arsenal and Chelsea are linked with Paul Pogba.
Arsenal and Chelsea have been boosted in their pursuit of Paul Pogba with the Express claiming Juventus are ready to sell the midfielder for £60m and use the money generated to try and buy Manchester United duo Robin van Persie and Nani this summer.
Pogba spent three years in the United youth set-up before leaving the club on a free transfer to join Juve in 2012, and he’s gone on to establish himself as one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe.
With 11 goals in his 56 league appearances so far and a string of impressive displays under his belt, the 21-year-old has attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs with Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG among those understood to be interested in luring him away from Serie A.
Until now, it’s been though Juventus would do all they could to hang on to the powerful French international. However, the Express claim the Old Lady are now ready to cash in on their star man should an offer in the region of £60m come in and plan to use the money to fund moves for several new recruits, including United duo van Persie and Nani.
RVP is currently on the sidelines with a knee injury but has endured a difficult second season at Old Trafford, while Nani has barely featured this campaign after being outcast by former boss David Moyes, but it’s unlikely either player will push for a move until they find out who their new manager will be next season.
Pogba has certainly been a revelation since making the move to Turin and would represent a stunning coup if Arsenal or Chelsea could manage to lure him to London this summer, but it remains to be seen whether either club would be willing to meet Juve’s supposed asking price.
£60m is a huge fee for a central midfielder and although the Gunners have substantial funds available after signing their new PUMA kit deal and Roman Abramovich is known to have deep pockets, I would be surprised if they were prepared to pay such a price – despite Pogba’s immense talent.
PSG on the other hand are more than capable of spending that kind of money and I’m sure they would love nothing more than to take Pogba back to France, so my money would be on a move to Paris if Juve do end selling the Frenchman this summer.
