Kobe Bryant’s final farewell lived up to all the hype as he scored a record-breaking 60 points to help the LA Lakers to a 101-96 win over Utah Jazz last night.
The 37-year-old was gunning all game and was successful with 22 of his 50 game shots to end his illustrious 20-year career in the best way possible with a 60-point haul – which is an NBA high for any player this year while Bryant also became the oldest player to ever score 60 points in an NBA game.
Jazz were leading for most of the game but Bryant stepped-up to score 23 points in the fourth quarter and with just 31 seconds remaining and the Lakers trailing by one, Bryant scored a patented mid-range jump-shot to put his team ahead and on course to victory.
It was a storybook ending to what has been a sensational career and while Bryant announced his decision to retire nearly six months ago, it didn’t make it any easier for the player to say his goodbye’s in front of a celebrity-packed crowd in the Staples Center.
