Manchester United booked their place in the final of the EFL Cup despite losing 2-1 to Hull City in their semi final second leg tonight with the Red Devils progressing 3-2 on aggregate.
United took a 2-0 lead in to the game following the first leg at Old Trafford but Hull halved their advantage when Tom Huddlestone converted a penalty midway through the first half after Marcos Rojo was adjudged to have fouled Maguire in the box.
Jose Mourinho’s side restored their two-goal advantage and took control of the tie when Paul Pogba slotted home from eight yards following a move involving Marcus Rashford and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Hull made sure it was a nervy final few minutes when Oumar Niasse poked home from close range in the 85th minute to make it 2-1 on the night and 2-3 on aggregate.
However, United held on to secure a 3-2 win over the two legs and book their place at Wembley where they’ll take on Southampton in the final next month.
