Aubameyang To Complete Arsenal Move After Chelsea Agree £18m Deal To Sign Giroud
Arsenal are ready to complete a club record move for Pierre-Emerick Aubaneyang after Chelsea agreed an £18m deal to sign Olivier Giroud
The January transfer window is coming to a close so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, the latest on the Aubameyang/Arsenal, Giroud/Chelsea saga….
Arsenal are ready to complete a club record move for Pierre-Emerick Aubaneyang after Chelsea agreed an £18m deal to sign Olivier Giroud, according to the Mirror.
The Gunners have been trying to get a deal to sign Aubameyang over the line for over a week after sending a delegation over to Germany last weekend to thrash out a deal.
An agreement was finally reached on Sunday with Kicker reporting that a deal worth around £55m had been settled between the two clubs and Aubameyang has also agreed personal terms with Arsenal.
The Gabon international was then spotted flying out of Dortmund airport earlier today and Sky Sports showed video footage of the striker arriving at London Colney this afternoon.
However, the move is dependent on Dortmund finding a replacement before they’ll release Aubameyang and the German giants have a deal lined-up to sign Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea.
But, again, the Blues will only allow the Belgian international to complete his switch to Dortmund if they can secure a replacement and Chelsea have targetted Olivier Giroud from Arsenal after failing to sign Edin Dzeko.
BBC journalist David Ornstein claimed on Twitter earlier that a £20m deal had been agreed between the London rivals only for Chelsea to try and drive the price down at the last minute.
It seems that tactic has worked as the Mirror are now reporting that Chelsea believe they have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Giroud for just £18m.
Once the Frenchman completes his move to Stamford Bridge it will allow Batshuayi to complete his loan switch to Dortmund which will give Aubameyang the green light to finally seal his big-money move to Arsenal.
