Liverpool Trying To Hijack Move To Sign £88m-Rated South American Star
Liverpool have registered their interest in Yerry Mina and are trying to hijack Fenerbahce’s move to sign the £88m Barcelona centre-back this summer
The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool have made their move fro Yerry Mina….
Liverpool have registered their interest in Yerry Mina and are trying to hijack Fenerbahce’s move to sign the £88m-rated Barcelona centre-back this summer, according to reports via TeamTalk.
Mina made his name with Brazilian club Palmeiras before joining Barcelona in a £10.5m deal back in January but his time at the Nou Camp hasn’t gone to plan so far as he struggled to force his way in to Ernesto Valverde’s first team plans.
The 23-year-old started just 2 games in all competitions during the second half of last season with Valverde opting for Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique as his first choice centre-back pairing the majority of the time as Barca went on to land another La Liga title.
The Catalans are concerned Mina will take time to adapt to life in Europe so have decided to send him out on loan and TeamTalk claim Fenerbahce are in advanced talks over a season-long deal to take him to Turkey.
However, the report, which originates from Fotomac, says Liverpool are now trying to hijack Fenerbahce’s deal after the Reds registered their interest in signing Mina – who has an £88m buyout clause in his contract – this summer.
The Merseysiders were first linked with the Colombian international back in May when Spanish outlet AS, via TeamTalk, reported that Mina would be moving to Anfield on an initial loan deal.
It was reported that Mina’s preference was to remain at the Nou Camp and fight for his place but with Barcelona set to sign Arthur Melo from Gremio, they need to loan the defender in order to free-up a non-EU place in their squad.
Things died down during the World Cup but the speculation has now resurfaced and it looks like Mina could be on the move with Jurgen Klopp ready to offer him a fresh start here in the Premier League.
