Player Confirms Liverpool Interest Amid Reports Of £10m Klopp Swoop

Nigerian winger Moses Simon has confirmed Liverpool have shown an interest in signing him amid speculation Jurgen Klopp is lining-up a £10m swoop

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Moses Simon has confirmed interest from Liverpool….

Nigerian winger Moses Simon has confirmed Liverpool have shown an interest in signing him amid speculation Jurgen Klopp is lining-up a £10m swoop, according to the Mirror.

Simon was a product of the GBS Academy in Nigeria and following short spells at Ajax and Trencin he eventually joined KAA Gent in 2015 where he’s established himself as one of the most exciting young players in Belgian football with a string of impressive performances.

The 23-year-old has provided 21 goals and 18 assists in 136 appearances so Gent while he’s also scored 4 goals in 21 caps for his country but was cruelly forced to miss the World Cup finals in Russia due to a thigh injury.

The winger’s potential has seemingly caught the attention of Liverpool scouts as he’s been strongly linked with a move to Anfield and the Mirror claim Klopp has been considering a £10m swoop for Simon this summer.

Simon has just one year remaining on his contract so Gent may have to cash-in at a bargain price or risk losing the talented attacker for nothing in 12 months time if he doesn’t sign an extension.

The winger has now confirmed Liverpool’s interest in signing him but insists no formal offer has been made by the Reds as yet and suggests he’s just focussed on getting himself ready for the new season.

Simon is quoted as saying by the Mirror:

“Well, for now, I’m still a player of KAA Gent; obviously, there was interest from Liverpool but nothing is concrete for now.

“I’m currently in Holland with the rest of the squad and we are getting ready for the new season.

“We have a game against PAOK in two days; hopefully, I might play in that one.”

Simon is just 5ft 6in tall but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d give Klopp a versatile option in the final third if Liverpool did decide to sign him this summer.

However, it remains to be seen whether Klopp will formalise his interest in the Nigerian international as the Reds are close to signing another diminutive attacker with Xherdan Shaqiri on the verge of sealing a move to Anfield from Stoke.
