Everton now eyeing move for Palmeiras star Jose Manuel Lopez

Everton have identified Palmeiras centre-forward Jose Manuel Lopez as the ‘primary target’ to reinforce their attack next summer, according to Sports Boom.
The centre-forward, widely known as Flaco Lopez, has spent much of his formative years in South America, first developing with Independiente before joining Lanus, where he rose through the ranks.
Having provided 27 goal contributions for the Argentine club, his attacking output piqued the interest of Palmeiras, who swooped to secure his signature in 2022.
Since moving to Allianz Parque, the 25-year-old has been one of the standout performers not just in the Brazilian league but also across South America, playing an instrumental role in Palmeiras’ run to the CONMEBOL Libertadores final.
Lopez has netted 66 goals and provided 20 assists in 198 games for the Verdao since his arrival. In the ongoing campaign, his prolific form, with 14 goal contributions in all competitions for Abel Ferreira’s side, has drawn keen interest from several clubs, particularly in England.
This is according to Sports Boom, which claims that Premier League side Everton have ‘identified’ Lopez as a ‘primary target’ to reinforce David Moyes’ attack next summer.
‘Ideal profile’
The Toffees are on the lookout for a physical pointman up front, and the club’s scouts have been closely monitoring the Argentine in recent months as a viable option for that role, according to the report.
However, the report adds that the Merseyside club face stern competition from Premier League rivals Brentford, who have earmarked the 6ft 2in hitman as the potential successor to Igor Thiago, who is set to become a subject of keen interest next summer.
With a contract at the Allianz Parque running until 2029, Palmeiras are adamant on only selling him for his full valuation starting from £30m, which could potentially rise to £34-39m.
Tottenham were one of the busiest clubs in the previous summer window, strengthening their attack with Randal Kolo Muani. At the same time, Mathys Tel’s initial loan from Bayern Munich was later made permanent.
Alongside them, Richarlison and Dominic Solanke were already part of the squad, leaving the club with four recognised centre-forwards this season.
With that depth, it now appears increasingly probable that at least one attacker will move on next summer, and Lopez could represent a strong option to come in and compete for a starting role in the next campaign.
