Triaud: We’ll Talk To Arsenal Over Possible Striker Move

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has confirmed the club are interested in bringing Marouane Chamakh back to the club and will speak to Arsenal over a loan.

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Bordeaux respond to Chamakh reports.

Marouane-Chamakh-Arsenal

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has confirmed the club are interested in bringing Marouane Chamakh back to the club but only on a temporary basis, according to ESPN.

The 28-year-old spent eight seasons with Bordeaux and helped them to the Ligue 1 title in the 2008-2009 season before joining the Gunners on a free transfer in 2010.

However, despite an impressive start to life at the Emirates the Moroccan international has struggled to replicate his form in north London and is yet to start a Premier League game this season.

On Monday Chamakh admitted he may be forced to consider his Arsenal future and claimed was open to the idea of a move back to France but the only club he’d consider joining would be former side Bordeaux.

Now the French outfits president has responded to these reports insisting a transfer is out of the question due to the players wages, but he will seek talks with Arsenal over a possible loan move.

“A transfer is not worth discussing,” he said. “

His salary is very high. We have to talk to the people at Arsenal to see what the terms and conditions for a loan would be. He’s a talented boy but the situation is very complicated.”

Triaud is quoted as saying by ESPN

Chamakh is said to be on wages of £55,000-a-week at the Emirates so would have to take a huge pay-cut if he wants to join Bordeaux on a permanent basis. Even the possibility of a loan move may be hampered by his wage demands as Arsenal will be reluctant to pay a percentage of his salary for a player that’s out on loan.

Hopefully Chamakh is prepared to accept lower wages and makes a permanent transfer back to Ligue 1. He’s obviously never going to make it at Arsenal and Wenger clearly doesn’t trust him, and for good reason. Let’s get him off the books in January and sign a player that can have a real impact on the first team. Over to you Arsene.
